Our New Managing Partner

March 14, 2018

Earlier today, Pierre Omidyar announced the appointment of a new managing partner for Omidyar Network (ON), Mike Kubzansky.

Mike assumes leadership of ON at an exciting time of continued renewal and innovation.  Our most mature initiatives are gaining greater autonomy, new initiatives such as Digital Identity and Tech and Society Solutions Lab are being nurtured and scaled, and we plan to generate, develop, and share new ideas, insights, and experiments to drive innovation.

As Pierre noted, Mike is the ideal choice to lead ON through this exciting new phase, and I’m delighted that Mike has accepted the mantle of leadership at Omidyar Network.

I am deeply grateful for my 11-year adventure as managing partner of Omidyar Network.  I have been able to work on critical societal issues with incredibly talented and committed colleagues and peers from across the private, public, and social sectors.  Moreover, I have had the opportunity to support and collaborate with an amazing group of mission-driven entrepreneurs whose innovations have created enormous opportunity whilst also changing entire systems in service to positive social change.  Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering support of Pierre and Pam Omidyar.  I first met Pierre as a young eBay executive back in 1999 and have been motivated, moved, and inspired by the trust that he has consistently placed in me over the years. Thank you, Pierre!

This journey with the Omidyars and with ON has not only informed and inspired me, it has fundamentally shaped my perspectives and my life.  I now have more resonance than ever with the words of the great Bengali writer and poet, Rabindranath Tagore, who wrote:

I slept and dreamt that life was joy

I awoke and saw that life was service

I acted and behold, service was joy.

With deepest gratitude.
