Young people experiencing adversity such as abuse, neglect, and poverty leads to the disruption of normal physical and mental developmental milestones. Early experiences of adversity results in failure to thrive which includes problems ranging from poor cognitive skills, poor emotional skills, and high levels of anxiety. With the addition of 21st century complexities, the children are left highly unprepared.
Dream a Dream believes that these deficits are reversible and recoverable. By placing the child at the center of their approach, Dream a Dream works to empower children with the skills necessary to adapt and tackle everyday challenges with confidence, in the presence of an empathetic adult.
