The ODI secures $2.5m from Omidyar Network to help deliver its mission to build an open, trustworthy data ecosystem

Omidyar Network's Governance & Citizen Engagement Initiative has renewed its support to the Open Data Institute with a $2.5 million grant. Funding will allow the ODI to build on and advance expertise in its current programs of work, including sector change, supporting companies and governments, and building and supporting peer networks. Learn more here

Investigative reporting co-operative, The Ferret, has secured a $100,000 grant to support its award-winning work

The two-year grant comes from Omidyar Network, a philanthropic investment firm, and will enable The Ferret to expand its journalistic capacity, increase membership and impact, and strengthen its ability to hold power to account across Scotland, the UK and beyond.

The new organization also provided details about how it will work, and announced that academics can now apply for access and funding to study the first Facebook data set.
