As a director on Omidyar Network’s intellectual capital team, Anamitra helps to define the firm’s overall strategic direction, incubate new areas of work, and commission research and analysis that guide our efforts and resources to maximize scale and social impact (e.g. Big Data, Small Credit). Though he has advised most of Omidyar Network’s initiatives in his time here, his work today focuses mainly on our Governance & Citizen Engagement team and the Tech and Society Solutions Lab.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Anamitra was an associate partner at the Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte), where he co-founded the Monitor Inclusive Markets practice. He led consulting and research projects in financial inclusion, low-income housing, agriculture and livelihoods, healthcare, and impact investing in North America, South Asia, MENA, and sub-Saharan Africa, and contributed to seminal reports and features on market-based solutions and impact investing.
His work has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, The Times of India, and the Financial Times, he has spoken at several conferences and universities on impact investing, and he has judged business plan competitions on social enterprise and market based solutions to poverty.
Anamitra received two master’s degrees from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. He is a proud graduate of Mount Allison University and the Lester B. Pearson United World College in Canada.
