Jonathan Kirschner

Senior Director, Investment Management

As senior director of investment management, Jonathan leads the firm's investment management team and is chair of its investment committee.  He oversees the end-to-end investment process across the global portfolio and has managed the investment process across all of Omidyar Network’s initiatives. Jonathan also led the Energy Access team, with a portfolio of early-stage renewable energy investments in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to joining the Omidyar Network, Jonathan served in the Obama Administration, where he helped USAID to build a venture fund, Development Innovation Ventures (DIV), advised the Global Development Lab on blended finance tools, and created the Scaling Off-Grid Energy Grand Challenge, in conjunction with Power Africa.  Previously, Jonathan helped build the portfolio team at Mesoamerica, a Colombian private equity fund, and Gera Ventures, a venture capital fund in Brazil. Jonathan began his career at Bain & Company where he spent four years as a consultant focused on private equity and strategic consulting in New York and South Africa. 

Jonathan holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Master’s in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a BSFS from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
