Jonathan is a member of Omidyar Network’s Energy Access investment team where he focuses on strategy and investments. He also serves as a director of the firm's investment management team to evaluate new investment opportunities, manage the investment process, and coordinate support to the firm’s portfolio companies.
Jonathan was most recently a senior portfolio manager for USAID’s Development Innovation Ventures (DIV), where he supported organizations in the portfolio and was actively engaged in their selection and strategic management. In this role, he led collaboration with Power Africa to support the growth of the off-grid solar energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and worked with the U.S. Global Development Lab on new blended finance tools focused on supporting early stage innovators.
Before joining DIV, Jonathan worked as an early-stage investor focused on emerging markets and helped build the portfolio teams at Mesoamerica, a Colombian private equity fund, and at Gera Ventures, an education-focused venture capital fund in Brazil. He also worked as head of international expansion for CPM Braxis, a Brazilian IT services startup. Jonathan began his career at Bain & Company where he spent four years as a consultant focused on private equity and strategic consulting in New York and South Africa. He was also a co-author of Success in Africa, a book on business in Africa.
Jonathan holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Master’s in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a BSFS from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
