Tie manages all aspects of Omidyar Network’s accounting and finance practices, a role in which he has served since joining the firm in 2004. He oversees financial diligence for all prospective grants and investments and provides direct support to portfolio organizations on issues such as internal controls optimization, financial reporting, and tax structuring to help them achieve their financial objectives. Tie is also responsible for leading the firm’s impact assessment practices.
Prior to Omidyar Network, Tie held various managerial positions at Informatica, a provider of data integration software. He spent three years in the company’s business development group while simultaneously developing a whitepaper on Basel II, a set of international standards on banking laws and regulations. From 1999 to 2001, Tie was investor relations manager and worldwide operations manager at Informatica, prior to which he led its finance department. Tie began his career in the assurance and advisory department at Deloitte LLP. He covered several IPOs during his four years at the firm.
Tie currently serves as a board member of Foundation Financial Officers Group, a nonprofit membership organization for financial and investment officers of large private foundations.
