Since day one, Omidyar's investment in Digg has been supportive of our goal to democratize media worldwide. Their continued support has been incredibly valuable over the past four years.

— Jay Adelson, CEO of Digg

Digg is one of the most visited sites for discovering and sharing online content, enabling people to have a voice in the distribution of media.

Why We Invested

Digg is an online news aggregation platform that turns readers into editors, allowing them to determine the most relevant, compelling content online. Digg draws tens of millions of visitors worldwide by improving access to information, facilitating participation in the news-selection process, and supporting rich conversations and connections among people with shared interests.

The privately held company, based in San Francisco, develops tools for real-time content filtering and aggregation that allow people to submit news stories, videos, and images from around the Web. People read and rate, or "digg", media, and the content with the most votes rises to the top. As a result, readers find the most relevant, up-to-date news and information.
