Why We Invested

The Global Commercial Microfinance Consortium improves the ties between mainstream financial institutions and microfinance groups, as well as encourages greater private investment in the industry by demonstrating the commercial viability of microfinance. By working to strengthen the microfinance industry and providing local currency financing to microfinance institutions, the fund expands the capital available to poor individuals and communities worldwide.

Managed by Deutsche Bank, the fund has a diverse investor group, including institutional investors as well as government agencies such as the U.K. Department of International Development and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
