Why We Invested
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world that allows users to inhabit and build the world around them. Created by San Francisco-based Linden Lab, Second Life has a rapidly growing population of participants from around the globe that can connect to others with shared interests.
Second Life allows users to create an online persona or representation, known as an avatar. This avatar engages with others in Second Life’s vast digital world, which offers its residents unprecedented opportunities for interaction, commerce, and an active role in creating the world environment. For example, residents can use the platform to participate in town-hall meetings; contribute to charities; or buy, sell, and trade digital goods and services with other Second Life residents for real U.S. currency.
