Making the Case for Impact Investing
At Omidyar Network, we have been engaged in the impact investing sector for more than ten years. During this time, we’ve seen many changes in how people talk about the industry – among insiders, in the media, and by skeptics. In the past year, we’ve seen a remarkable increase in coverage and sensed the industry is taking off, but wanted to validate that perception.
As part of the overall communications effort for the Global Social Impact Investing Steering Group, we commissioned Monitor 360 to research the current narrative surrounding impact investing: what is being said, who are our audiences, what is important to them, and how we can help bridge gaps in the conversation. We see this research as instrumental in identifying what messages are resonating with people, where we are not communicating as effectively, and how we can collectively put together a roadmap for moving the sector forward.
On March 15, along with the Global Impact Investing Network, we co-hosted a webinar to introduce the research findings to the field and discuss its implications. We were pleased to be joined by Sir Ronald Cohen of the Global Steering Group and Jean Case from the Case Foundation, as well as Alex Cole from Monitor 360, to share their insights into the research and its implications on their work going forward.
