Are Indian slums an economic asset hiding in plain sight?

Omidyar Network recently funded the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University to examine slums in Bengaluru. The study found that these slum properties are a source of untapped wealth for residents because they don’t have a system for securing formal property rights.

As Roopa Kudva, Partner and Managing Director of Omidyar Network in India, said, "Property titling for slum dwellers has a clear link to overall economic development.”
